Cedar Point announced it’s newest roller coaster on Wednesday. The Valravn (VAL-raven) will become the world’s tallest, fastest and longest dive coaster when the park opens up for its 2016 season next May.
The Valravn will become the 18th coaster at the Roller Coaster Capital of the World. Rivers on Valravn are carried more than 20 stories up to the top of the coaster’s 223-foot tall first hill. Once there, the train is held in perilously over the edge of the first drop for approximately 4 seconds, giving riders unparalleled views of the park before free-falling a record 214 feet at a completely verticle, 90-degree angle, reaching a top speed of 75 mph. Jet like maneuvers will take riders through more than 3,415 feet of track, including another 125 near verticle drop, a dive loop and a 270-degree roll. Valravn will shatter 10 world records when it debuts next summer.
